We are just a month away from the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. It is obvious to get loads of leaks and rumours before the actual launch and this Samsung flagship is no different. The Galaxy S9 retail box has leaked this time and reveals some of the most exciting pieces of information about the phone.
To start with, the Galaxy S9 would be coming with stereo speakers tuned by AKG. The phone might go with the Apple iPhone’s approach where the earpiece and the bottom-firing speaker work together to give a stereo effect. It isn’t surprising as Samsung will also be taking the iPhone’s route when it comes to the differences between the two variants. Adding to that, the phone will come along with high-quality earphones tuned by AKG, like it was previously seen.
The other thing that is kind of new for the Galaxy S-series is a camera with variable aperture. The “Super Speed Dual Pixel” 12MP camera on the Galaxy S9 supports OIS along with f/1.5 and f/2.4 aperture to take shots in different lighting conditions. A similar implementation was seen on the Samsung W2018 that was announced in December which is a flip-phone with dual displays.
A Reddit user got hold of this Galaxy S9 retail box image that reveals some new information about the device. But this doesn’t confirm if the Galaxy S9+ will also have the same setup as the bigger phone will be getting a dual-camera setup, which might differ on many grounds.
Super Slow-mo is another thing that is found mentioned on the box, which, apparently, was also there on the Samsung W2018. Sony already has a flagship phone that can record videos at 960fps, so Samsung might be getting around that point. The exact fps count for the Galaxy S9 isn’t known yet. The front camera on the phone would be of 8MP, no fancy stuff there.
Apart from the ones mentioned above, the box confirms some of the details that we have earlier seen. The Galaxy S9 retail box mentions a 5.8-inch sAMOLED display with QHD+ resolution while the phone will have IP68 rating along with an iris scanner. The smaller phone of the duo will get 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while the Galaxy S9+ is rumoured to get a 6GB RAM variant.
We will keep you posted with the latest updates about the Galaxy S9 that should keep coming up until it’s officially announced at MWC in February.
