Instagram adds 3D Touch-style Feature to it’s Android app

Innovation is a key factor to integrate more functionality to a smartphone, after all, that’s what makes it smarter! Adding pressure sensitivity to a screen and assigning different pressure levels, some specific functions, may just be a gimmick for you but for the rest, it will turn out to be a deal breaker or something that’s just overly impressive. Moreover, these are just some input methods, not utilised to the fullest like a long press or a double tap but, innovation can’t end, isn’t it?

Although Android is still far from mastering this new ability with the lack of hardware components, it’s not that difficult to replicate it! A simpler and more familiar feature that can imitate the 3D Touch is a ‘long press’. Instagram is one of the first to dive-in and pull the new way of input to our favourite Android devices along with their latest app version (7.13.0)

Not settled with this unfair facility bias, Instagram updates their app on android, rather then pressing harder, you gotta press longer!

Until we’ve tested, the feature did stutter initially but after the next app launch, it is just flawless! Well, the updates will take a little time to reach everyone’s devices from over the Google Play servers, don’t freak out though, you can of course install the update manually using this APK file.

These new methods are simple however, the community is yet much bewildered about them and needs to get used to the new input manners. We’d like to know your thoughts, would you try it out? Or, did you? What was your experience? Let us know in the comment section below!
