Pixel 2 XL users report slow fingerprint unlocking after Android 8.1 update

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have created a lot of hype for a quite a while now and it doesn’t seem to stop. The Pixel 2 devices have again featured on the front page but this time for the problems people are facing yet again. Some of the Pixel 2 XL users have reported that they’re facing slow fingerprint unlocking. The users believe that the latest update has slowed down the fingerprint unlocking after the recent Android 8.1 Oreo update. The aforementioned issue has been the talk of the Google product forums and it seems like Google is already working on the fix.

One of the affected users from the Google Product Forums said, “My Pixel 2XL’s screen takes a good second before the screen turns on, and it started after updating the device.” This problem was not only posted on product forums but the post has also been going hot on Reddit. There is even a video on YouTube showing the slow fingerprint unlocking problem. The video shows about three seconds of delay before the device is unlocked.

Orrin Hancock, Google Community Manager, in response to the problem said that he will be reaching out to some specific individuals privately in order for bug reports. The Pixel 2 was also spotted earlier with a bootloader bug, which was also fixed recently so if you are one of the users who is facing this problem sit tight. Other than the slow fingerprint unlocking issue, some of the users who recently upgraded to the Android 8.1 Oreo also complained that they’ve been experiencing some delays on the power button as well.

The Google Pixel 2 XL hasn’t been in the news for its amazing features but has been in the news more for its flaws. Few weeks after the launch of the Pixel 2 XL most of the users faced a number of problem with its display. There is a blue tint on the screen when it is seen from extreme angles. These problems went hot for a few days until Google came out with a response.

The Pixel 2 XL was also previously reported for causing a sudden reboot whenever it was connected to a LTE network.  Even after these bugs and issues with the Pixel 2 XL, it’s still one of the most popular devices out there.
