HTC U11 is officially set to launch in India at an event on June 16. The pricing and availability are not yet known and will be cleared during this event.

We only got a slight hint last week when HTC listed the U11 on its India website.  But now the press invite pretty much confirms it. The phone was first launched in Taiwan last month with its biggest attraction being the ‘Edge Sense’. It strives to provide a completely new way of interacting with the phone.

Edge Sense lets you do stuff like launch the camera, send texts, open email, launch an app, and so on. You can get even more functionality by enabling advanced touch mode like “short squeeze” or “squeeze and hold”. One of the cool things about this is that it also works while wearing gloves as the technology is based on actual pressure applied rather than touch sensitivity.

Although the pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed, we just recently got leaks suggesting that India will get the variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It’ll be launched in Amazing Silver, Sapphire Blue, Brilliant Black, Ice White, and Solar Red colour options. It starts at EUR 749 (around Rs 53,000) in Europe and USD 749 (around Rs. 48,000) in the US. We only hope to have a similar pricing in India although that is not always the case.
