OxygenOS

While there’s no Oreo coming with the OnePlus 5T out of the box, a few updates like being able to clone apps for personal and work use, the new and improved Gaming Do Not Disturb mode are new ones to the list. All the OenPlus – specific applications like the Weather, Launcher, or even the Gallery app can now be found as separate apps on the Play Store to enable quicker updates.

Now, they did announce that Oreo will be hitting the OnePlus 5 as an Open Beta update late November, and to the OnePlus 5T in late December. Both devices are scheduled to be OTA updated to Oreo by early 2018.

A Brief Flashback

The Co-Founder of the Chinese underdog was invited on the stage and provided us all a great nostalgia of the company’s past.

How they first begin with no product in hand, to now with one of the best selling phones of the year. While they did share their pride in releasing a true Flagship all the way back in 2014, they didn’t shy out discussing how 2015 wasn’t a great year for the company with their OnePlus 2 and the X. They picked up their pace back up with the OnePlus 3, and 3T, and then concluded by calling the OnePlus 5 the ‘most complete package’ from their ends.

The New Display

The new OnePlus 5T now has an 80.2% screen-to-body ratio, and packs in a bigger display than the recent OnePlus 5 but in the same footprint. The display still is a 1080p panel, but OnePlus now has brought about a new ‘adaptive lighting’ feature that works similar to that of Apple’s ‘True Tone’ technology and adjusts brightness and White Balance according to the lighting around you.

Hardware Changes

Since there was no place for the snappy fingerprint scanner to be placed on the front of the device, they’ve moved it to the back, in an ergonomic position, and also in a circular body. However, they have also introduced their new ‘Face Unlock’ feature which uses your eyes and your nose to have an unlocking accuracy of 99%. The chassy itself has been rounded off even more for a pleasant feel in the hand, and the horizon line stays here another generation.

New and Improved Cameras

Both the sensors (16 MP + 20 MP) on the OnePlus 5T have gotten an update for better low-light performance and also optically stabilize the darker shots. Portrait mode now has been assured with much better blur out, and no longer crops in your photos to work flawlessly.

Faster Performance

While we have the same Snapdragon 835 Octo Core processor under the hood, with the same Adreno 530, and also the same 8 Gigabytes of RAM on the fully-decked out variant, but thanks to OxygenOS’ optimized software, performance will never disappoint a user who got himself into a flagship at a cheap price tag. Claims have stated that both the OnePlus 5 and the 5T are the fastest app & game launching devices out there, and being a user myself, I can confirm. Dash Charge being the company’s forte has obviously been decked in the flagship yet another launch this time.

Pricing and Availability

As the leaks have suggested, the OnePlus 5T will be available for the same price as the OnePlus 5, $499 for the 6/64 variant and $459 for the 8/128 GB variant. Sales begin on November 21 in selected countries.

That’s all folks, thanks for stopping by!
