After a wait of several months and a number of leaks, HMD Global finally launched its flagship smartphone a few weeks back. The Nokia 8 packs every feature that you’d expect from a 2017 flagship and the icing on the cake is the company’s promise to deliver latest Android updates soon after they are released. The phone might soon be heading to India and HMD Global has already sent out press invites for the next week’s event.

The event has been scheduled for September 26th and we are expecting that Nokia 8 will go official this time in the country. There is no clear indication on the invite that suggests the launch of Nokia 8 but there is a subtle hint in the invite’s text. The invite mentions:

There are two sides of every story. Don’t miss out on yours. Join us for unveiling the next milestone of Nokia.

This statement is enough for anyone to pinpoint the device that the company has referred to here. If you’re still struggling to relate Nokia 8 with the statement, then let me tell you that the “two sides of the story” most probably refer to the dual cameras of Nokia 8. And of course, it is definitely a milestone for Nokia.

Announced last month, the Nokia 8 has a ‘normal’ 5.3-inch Quad HD display with thin bezels on either the sides. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and offers a brightness of 700 nits. Being a flagship, it comes powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor along with 4GB of RAM and storage capacity of 64GB which is further expandable.

The highlight of the phone is the dual-camera setup that it sports on the back. There are two 13MP camera sensors, with one being monochrome, and they come with OIS and ZEISS optics. The front-facing camera is also of 13MP and offers similar specifications as the rear primary camera. The fingerprint camera can also be found on the front sitting below the display.

While the Nokia 8 was first announced, it was priced at 599 Euros or about Rs. 46,000 in Indian Rupees. The India specific pricing will vary a bit and we’ll have to wait for the official announcement to get the confirmed information.
