Recently, the California based company Razer has sent out invites for a launch to take place on May 22 in Beijing. We have no idea what the American gaming hardware company will introduce in China but it seems like Razer gaming phone is coming to China.

Razer previously announced a brand new gaming smartphone way back in November but unfortunately, it was not launched in the Chinese market. Also, if you looking at the image below, it seems that it can either be a smartphone or an upcoming gaming laptop. The picture in the invite teases a rectangular device visible from the side is suspected to be a smartphone or a gaming laptop.

It is more obvious to consider the launch of a gaming smartphone since the Chinese market is now seeing a rise for these devices. Xiaomi and Nubia have already launched their gaming smartphone in China. Razer might want to join to compete with the likes of Xiaomi and Nubia. Xiaomi Black Shark comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC while the Nubia Red Magic is powered by Snapdragon 835.

The Razer Phone is a beast when it comes to gaming with its phenomenal 2K display with 120 Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 835 processor and great front-facing speakers. Though one thing that Razer did not add on their smartphone was a bezel-less display. But it does come with Qualcomm’s last year flagship smartphone. As a result of which, Xiaomi Black Shark might take the lead thanks to the SD 845 processor in it.

The US gaming smartphone comes with 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which is expandable via Micro SD. It sports a 5.7-inch display, 4,000mAh battery, dual camera setup at the back with 12-megapixel cameras, and 8-MP selfie shooter. There is a fingerprint sensor as well at the side of the device. It runs on Android 7.1.1 which is upgradable to Android 8.1 Oreo.

Launching this smartphone rather than the refreshed one makes more sense as the device is just 6 months old. The gaming hardware manufacturer might not want to kill its own product so soon. Other rumors suggest a high-end gaming laptop which is highly unlikely. For Razer, it is a right moment to introduce a gaming smartphone in China and becoming a part of this ongoing competition.
