Oppo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturing company is known for providing users with the best selfie cameras (as per their slogans). The same company has recently announced their next selfie killer – the oppo F5 – the companies latest selfie-focused smartphone which will be unveiled at an event in the Philippines.

Oppo’s this new phone will also be joining the bandwagon of almost-bezel-less smartphones at an affordable price. The F5 sports a 6-inch Full HD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The F5 will also sport a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for an additional layer of protection.

The main highlight of the device will be its front-facing camera, packing in a 20-megapixel sensor. It also comes with AI based beauty recognition technology which tries (pfff.) to add beauty to your face. The AI beauty recognition technology can scan up to 200 facial recognition spots, hence will beautify a selfie shot perfectly and also add a bokeh effect. The F5 also has face unlock feature which was previously seen at the Apple iPhone 8 and X event.

Taking a look at the design of the phone, it looks premium and has a metal unibody. To the top is the camera, earpiece and some standard sensors. However, it’s a bezel-less design device for which there aren’t any capacitive keys. At the rear, there’s a fingerprint sensor, followed by the Oppo branding. The rear camera has a 16-megapixel sensor with an LED flash, and an f/1.8 aperture. At the bottom we can see that the 3.5mm headphone jack is still present, a sigh of relief.

The OPPO F5 comes with dedicated dual SIM and MicroSD card slots. It also packs in a decent sized 3,200mAh battery. The company also claims that the device offers an O-share file sharing technology which allows you to share files 100times faster when compared to your normal Bluetooth.

The OPPO F5 will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P23 16nm processor coupled with ARM Mali G71 MP2 GPU, and has been segmented intro two variants: 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM. The device runs on Oppo’s ColorOS 3.2, formulated on Android 7.1 Nougat. And as far as the connectivity is concerned, it includes GPS/A-GPS, GPRS/EDGE and 3G, 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and comes with USB OTG support.

Reportedly, Opo has confirmed that the device will be launched in India on November 2nd. It’ll also be launched in other Asian markets including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand etc.
