With the Samsung Galaxy S7 being launched almost a year ago, it’s time we start hearing rumors about its successor: the Galaxy S8. We’ve covered most of the expected features in our earlier article and yet there seem to be talks of new features every other day. This time, we’ve got speculations about the launch date and the new placement of the fingerprint sensor.

According to report put up by The Guardian, the phone will most likely start shipping around April 21 which is only a few days later than the previous reports which suggested April 18. Well, while we don’t know the exact dates, they’ll most probably unveil the phone during the third or fourth week of April.

Like we mentioned earlier, the new Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature an edge-to-edge screen which means it’ll hardly have any bezels. While it does sound cool, there’ll hardly be any space for a fingerprint scanner or the beloved home screen button. Latest rumors show that it’ll most likely be moved to the back of the phone like many of the smartphones today. Perhaps it could even be placed on the side like the Sony Xperia Z5. You never know, it’s just rumored, you hear new ones every day. We also have a picture leak from VentureBeat that shows the fingerprint scanner right beside the camera, which in my opinion is an odd spot to put your finger on. While we realize that it may be a fake one, it does give us a slight idea that it’ll most probably be placed at the back.

There were some other details in the report we wanted to share. The phone will include the same iris scanner as on the Note 7. The rear camera will only get an incremental upgrade from the S7’s camera. The camera on the S7 is already so good and is one of the best out there so I wouldn’t really complain here. And oh, yes, the phone will presumably maintain it’s 3.5mm headphone jack.

Now of course if I haven’t stressed enough, these are just rumors and speculations. While some these may actually match the description of the S8 that’ll get launched in the coming months, it’s not necessary that all of them will make their way into it. With the Note 7 failing miserably, it’s Samsung’s only chance to make up for it and get back at its game.
