Nokia started its second inning of making smartphones with the budget segment and then recently launched their flagship Nokia 8. This left a void in the mid-range segment where the company had no device standing against the competition. The Nokia 7 has been announced to fill that void and it looks like a solid offering from Nokia.

There weren’t many leaks about the device and we got to know about the existence of the phone only a couple of days back when Nokia sent out invites for the launch. The Nokia 7 design sketches were leaked right after to give us a better look at the phone. Now that the phone has been launched, we don’t need them anymore.

The Nokia 7 takes inspiration from the Nokia 8 but still manages to stand out. The front of the phone is quite generic to look at with fairly thick bezels on the top and bottom. Interestingly, the fingerprint scanner has been moved the back this time. It sits right below the camera housing in the centre.

Nokia has made use of a 5.2-inch 1080p LCD display and the phone comes powered by Snapdragon 630 processor. There will be two variants of the phone, one with 4GB RAM and the other with 6GB RAM. The internal memory of 64GB will be standard on both the variants. There will obviously be a price difference between the two variants and we will talk about it a bit later.

Bothies are making their way to the Nokia 7 too using the 16MP rear camera and a 5MP camera on the front. The primary camera has an aperture of f/1.8 and comes along with dual LED flash. A 3000mAh battery will power the device while the phone still has a 3.5mm headphone jack. Nokia 7 comes running Android Nougat out of the box but the company has promised the Oreo update soon.

HMD Global has announced this phone in China and is exclusive to the country at least for now. It will be available in the country starting October 24th for a price of ¥2,499 ($377) for the 4GB RAM variant and ¥2,699 ($407) for the 6GB RAM variant.
