LG G7 spotted with an advanced iris scanner in a patent

To be honest, LG was the one who popularized it and was one of the many smartphone making companies to join the bandwagon of the bezel-less design this year with its flagship LG G6. The G6 sports a bezel-less 18:9 display on the front and the LG G7 is expected to retain it..

Since it’s 2017, you might have already figured out by now that the moment a device is launched there is speculations related to its successor just getting started, that’s the same deal here too. The South Korean brand is expected to launch its next-generation flagship early in 2018 and it might borrow a few features from its competition, like the iris scanner, at least as per this leak.

There have been rumours related to the LG G7 for quite some time now. Recently, a patent filing was revealed which contained important information about the upcoming flagship from LG Electronics. According to the patent, the G7 might come with an advanced iris scanner. Although the reports claimed that it won’t help lock the phone but it’ll keep sensitive information safe by locking all the necessary apps if it figures out that the owner isn’t using the phone but someone else is.

Iris scanners work with the help of infrared lights, although reports suggest that the G7 will be able to work with both infrared and normal light. Rumours suggest that the LG G7 might make be unveiled in January this time around CES 2018. It’s said that there won’t be any sensors present on the display which means it won’t cause any problems to shrink the bezels.

 

According to leaks of the G7, it will sport a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Just like any other device nowadays, the G7 will also feature a dual camera setup at the rear with a standard RGB sensor and a secondary wide angle sensor. The device will be running on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and will sport a single front camera. Under the hood, the G7 is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM.  The G7 might pack in a decent sized 3500mAh battery with support for fast charging.
