Xiaomi’s first Android One smartphone is getting the Android Oreo stable build within the timeframe the company had earlier promised. The Mi A1 was launched a couple of months back in India running Android 7.1.2 Nougat. The beta testing for the update has been on since early this month.

The company had promised to release the Oreo update by the year end and it is now rolling out just in time. With the Mi A1 Android Oreo stable build rolling out, the phone has become one of the first devices in its price range to get the latest Android update. At launch, the company had also promised that the phone would be getting the Android P update, too, when it’s released in 2018.

There are some visual changes, too, that include redesigned Settings app without the hamburger menu. The colour scheme of the Settings and Quick Settings menu has also been changed to monochrome. Being associated with Android One program, Mi A1 comes with a stock Android experience with little to no bloatware from Xiaomi.

The Mi A1 Android Oreo stable build weighs 1107.4MB and carries a version number 7.12.29. To get this Oreo update on your Mi A1, you will first have to get a small update installed with version 7.12.19 based on Android Nougat. The Oreo build includes December security patch and January patch should be released soon.
