Samsung updated its M-series update with Galaxy M31 in February. The budget phone turned out to be a biggie and many people grabbed their opportunity to buy it across the globe. Samsung recently rolled out its April 2020 security patch and software update and as no doubt, many people dived to update their phones right away. Although the update was meant to fix security issues and bugs, it turns out many people have reported that their phones have been bricked while they were installing the update.
The snarl around Samsung Galaxy M31 faulty update has already added to various platforms such as Twitter, Samsung Community, etc. To simplify it, the phone’s screen turned blue and got stuck right during the installation process. Since most of the phones were bricked, it no longer can be switched off or basically you can’t do anything until a technician is working on it.

Some users reportedly claimed that they were able to restore the phone to its previous firmware while some suggested procedures that might void the warranty on the phone right away. But I would suggest you keep calm and wait until you hear something about how to fix this issue officially since a failed flashed software can cause adverse impacts on the device.
Anyways, a similar issue was reported with the recent upgrade to Android 10-based OneUI 2.0 on Samsung Galaxy A70 in India. Although SamMobile confirmed that the issue was caused due to hardware mismatch, it doesn’t explain why Galaxy M31 phones got bricked.
Given the state of lockdown across the world, people decided to opt for Samsung chat assistant only to be referred to a customer service center which no doubt is closed at least in India. It is still a few weeks before the service centers could be reopened so until then, if you haven’t updated your Galaxy M31 or Galaxy A70 yet, better stay clear and wait for a patch to fix the problem is caused when in the installation process.
