We know that OnePlus does things a little differently to everyone else in terms of their smartphone launch cycle. While we see that the likes of Apple, Samsung and mostly the major OEMs refresh their latest flagship phones in a year, OnePlus does it in half a year. We have seen this from the OnePlus 3 series where the OnePlus 3 and the 3T were launched six months apart and this has continued ever since. So we are going to see the OnePlus 8T really soon and now Android Central has come up with an exclusive report regarding the same.
As far as the report is concerned, it is clear that the company has dripped them with information on their upcoming phone and it is the way OnePlus has done their marketing from last few years and the latest example being OnePlus Nord. Anyways, if we look at the report then we can notice that the talk is all about the OnePlus 8T and not the OnePlus 8T series. This makes it clear that OnePlus 8T Pro is not going to release and even if it does, it will come later on.
Talking about the OnePlus 8T, the smartphone will have a lot of upgrades over the OnePlus 8 which we honestly felt was a letdown to make the OnePlus 8 Pro look a much better deal even for its $900 price tag. OnePlus 8T is reported to come with a 120Hz AMOLED panel which is a major bump from the OnePlus 8’s 90Hz panel. This will make the OnePlus 8 Pro and the OnePlus 8T have the same display in terms of a refresh rate. However, we believe(as it is not mentioned in the report) OnePlus 8T will have an FHD panel while the OnePlus 8 Pro comes with a QHD display.
This device is interestingly codenamed as “Kebab” as we saw from leaks earlier and Android Central also confirms the same. The device will come with the faster Snapdragon 865+ processor and continue to have 5G support. It will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The cameras will also see an improvement with a quad-camera setup having a 48MP+16MP+5MP+2MP configuration. These cameras will be a primary, wide-angle, macro and portrait lens respectively.
For the launch timeline, Android Central believes that the phone will arrive at the end of this month of the first week of next month. It will run Android 11 out of the box with OxygenOS 11 preloaded. This will also give us our first look at the final version of OxygenOS 11 which has been controversial so far. No pricing information has been discussed but our intuition is that the device will sit between the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro at the $800 mark.
