ColorOS 12 is finally here. Based on Android 12, Oppo finally announced the much-anticipated Android version with a tonne of features. Oppo hasn’t followed Material You design here and instead, it opts for an acrylic icon that looks more natural.
Oppo said that it has improved more than 300 animations across the ColorOS 12 U that now follows a physically-accurate animations thanks to the new Quantum Animation Engine 3.0 Features like widget-like cards, Quick Glance cards, and others are available as well.
ColorOS 12 brings on-board Smart Sidebar 2.0 that works similar to Samsung’s Edge Panel giving you contextual tools and features. With ColorOS 12, you can connect to computers with Windows 10 allowing you to seamlessly stream the phone’s screen on the PC. Viewing notifications, sharing files using simple drag-and-drop features and more are available at a fingertip.
Oppo introduces Omoji, a personalized 3D avatar that users can create. As it goes without saying, it works similar to Apple’s Bitmoji and uses 20,000 markers to pen out expressions that you can use during video calls or take photos and more.
A screen-sharing feature enables you to guide people who aren’t that tech-savvy without holding their phone physically. According to the stats posted by Oppo, the ColorOS 12 reduces RAM usage by 30 percent at the max while the power usage has been reduced by up to 20 percent as well as increased battery life by up to 12 percent.
In fact, Oppo has maintained that it has optimized ColorOS 12 to prevent extreme degradation of read and write performance with just a 5 percent or less reduction over 3 years of usage. ColorOS 12 retains many features from Android 12 such as floating windows, privacy indicators, improved permissions module and so on.
