Samsung is getting ready for the global launch of the Galaxy S24 series on February 17. The event is scheduled to take place at the US Galaxy Unpacked event. After initially releasing a teaser of the new flat-screen design, a new video leak of the Galaxy S24 Ultra has now made its way online. It shows the device’s front screen up close, showing that it is more rectangular and flatter than prior curved screens.
Despite the Galaxy S series’ appealing look, curved screens. Screen protector installation can be time-consuming, and they are prone to breaking and being accidentally touched. Ultimately, though, Samsung won’t be the only company involved in this flat-screen revolution. Chinese smartphone manufacturers Vivo, Oppo, and OnePlus are largely in charge of the curved display trend, with Google’s Pixel series also adopting a flat design.
On the other hand, businesses like Xiaomi and Honor are expanding the possibilities with their quad-curved screens. These displays resemble waterfalls because they have curved sides, a curved top, and a curved bottom. Samsung seems to prioritize functionality and usefulness with the new flat screen over the traditional aesthetic appeal of curved displays with thin bezels. A 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with a high resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels and a steady refresh rate of 120 Hz is expected to be included in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Its internal parts include 12GB of RAM, 256GB to 1TB of storage, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU with up to three distinct clock rates.
The device’s photography section is expected to house a quad-camera setup with an amazing 200 MP wide-angle lens, two telephoto lenses (50 MP and 10 MP), a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12 MP front camera. Notably, it is also said to support a digital zoom up to 100x.
The S24 Ultra will come with a large 5000mAh battery that supports fast charging. It also has a number of connectivity options, including USB-C, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and UWB technologies. It is expected to be offered in a variety of titanium colours. Additionally, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is poised to debut with Android 14-based One UI 6.1, amid speculation of seven years of software update support for the series.
