WhatsApp beta users got two-step verification feature during November last year, and it’s been working fine for most of them. Well, the update rolled out for all the 1.2 billion users a few days ago. So now, the entire user base can make use of two-step verification, but there are a few things you’ll have to do by yourself to get started with it.

The process isn’t automatic, and no, the app won’t prompt you with the instructions. All you need to do is go to Settings > Account > Two-step verification > Enable. Then set a six-digit PIN and an email address. Anytime later when you try to set up a device with your telephone number, you’ll have to enter that PIN code.
