It is being dubbed as to bring ‘Snow Leopard-style update’ as the developers are working towards improving the quality of the first-ever builds due next year.
iOS 27 likely to bring performance and AI upgrades without many changes to the UI
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg cited the upcoming iOS 27 will bring ‘quality improvements to performance on-board iPhones/iPads and AI features’. The Cupertino-based giant has already rolled out iOS 26 with a plethora of UI changes, and based on its track record, it won’t change much on the upcoming iOS iteration. Instead, Apple will focus on bug fixes and overall system performance and stability to bring the best out of your iPhone. This will also fix the impending apps crashing, overheating, and reduced battery life, among other issues on board the software.
iOS 27 is being considered to re-engage ‘Snow Leopard-style update’ which is what happened in 2009 when it made sure there are “no new features” but only for marketing. Instead, it brought a series of updates such as redesigned Safari 4, all-new QuickTime X player, high-res video-conferencing on Mac and more. Likewise, iOS 27 will surely bring a series of performance upgrades as well.
There are reports showcasing new AI features that will be part of iOS 27, where Apple will introduce AI to more apps. It will broaden web search capabilities and health-focused AI agents as we move forward. Moreover, there’s a full-fledged chatbot dubbed “Veritas” that will power the next generation of Siri. As in the case of all previous updates, iOS 27 features will make their way into macOS 27 and iPadOS 27 as well.
On the iOS front, we see new features as the Cupertino-based giant is looking forward to enhancing its line of devices. On the macOS 27 front, we could see new features as well. There are also efforts taking place where obsolete or older code is being cleaned off macOS 27, ensuring it is more efficient and stable.
Moreover, iOS 27 will pave the way for foldable iPhones (something we have been eagerly waiting for) and a host of other hardware.
Overall, we are expecting a major AI integration on-board iOS 27 and its siblings, slated to arrive as beta in June next year, followed by official launch in September 2026. All this and more has earned the upcoming iOS 27 as one of the most important updates in years.
