  • Huawei Pura X Max is launching in China with a wide-aspect ratio and a wide-display.
  • It is taking on Pura X launched last year and will bring a rather unconventional horizontally folding mechanism, much before Apple brings the same.
  • The phone is up for pre-order in China starting at ¥1,000 and interested buyers have four storage and five color options to choose from.

Huawei is set to launch yet another foldable phone in China next week. Dubbed the Huawei Pura X Max, it is the first horizontally foldable smartphone launching in its home country with a rather large display bearing a wide aspect ratio, taking it an inch further than what the original Pura X was able to capture. It will share the stage alongside the Huawei Pira 90 Pro series, and here’s everything you need to know.

Huawei made it official that its next-gen Huawei Pura X Max is coming on April 20 in China. The latest update comes with details regarding the phone’s design, RAM, storage, and color options, with the Pura X Max in the picture.

The phone is perhaps the first horizontally foldable phone out there with a giant wide-aspect ratio design on-board. There’s a selfie shooter affixed on top of the folding inner and giant outer screens. The back panel has a pill-shaped horizontal camera module housing its triple rear camera setup. Huawei will be launching the Pura X Max in five distinct color options—Interstellar Blue, Zero Degree White, Vibrant Orange, Phantom Night Black, and Olive Gold.

Pura X Max follows a wide aspect ratio, much like what Apple’s upcoming foldable phone is entitled to bring onboard. On the specs front, we don’t have much concrete information just yet. The last-gen Pura X was powered by the Kirin 9020 series chipset, so we are expecting the Kirin 9030 to take care of the performance on-board Pura X Max.

For the RAM and storage configuration, we have four trims available on-board the Pura X Max. That’s 12GB+256GB, 12+256GB, 16+512GB, and finally, a top-of-the-line 16GB+1TB config, available via pre-order right as you read this.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any pricing for the Huawei Pura X Max just yet. Interested buyers can get their hands on pre-orders after paying an initial sum of 1,000 yuan on VMall, choosing the color and storage trim, and paying the rest once the pricing is out.
