Xiaomi 18 Pro could be the company’s biggest flagship upgrade in years

Xiaomi is highly anticipated to release its next-gen number series, the Xiaomi 18 series, later this year, and among the lineup, the Pro model, the Xiaomi 18 Pro, is making headlines once again. Even though the company has not revealed anything yet, fresh leaks and supply-chain reports suggest Xiaomi could be preparing for its biggest upgrade in smartphones yet!

Primarily, the rumored highlights of the upcoming phone that matter to most premium smartphone consumers are camera performance, performance, and battery with fast-charging support. And if the leaks turn out to be accurate, the Xiaomi 18 Pro could sit in the premium/high-end segment of Android phones category, and it may rival Samsung, OnePlus, and others.

Xiaomi 18 Pro leaks point to major hardware changes

The latest information comes from a well-known Weibo-based leaker, Digital Chat Station, who claims Xiaomi is testing an engineering prototype built using a 2nm fabrication process, which is speculated to be Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor.

Although Qualcomm has not confirmed the speculation yet, if we look in the past, Xiaomi has traditionally been among the first smartphone manufacturing companies to launch a flagship with Qualcomm processors.

Apart from the processor, the leak reveals several significant details, and it’s not wrong if I say that it almost spills everything except for pricing and availability details. Anyway, Xiaomi appears to be working on a custom flat screen display, and it is speculated to be a 6.4-inch OLED screen with ultra-narrow symmetrical bezels and large rounded corners, which shall offer a sleek design.

Whenever we talk about display, we somehow get a little worried about privacy as well. Because we find some people around us who just can’t take their eyes off our phone screens, and for that, Xiaomi’s upcoming Pro model could pick up the Samsung-alike “Privacy Display” mode, which narrows the screen’s viewing angles to lower on-screen content’s visibility to people around you.

Xiaomi is pushing its limits for the photography users, as it is said to be receiving major upgrades as well. According to the tipster, the company is developing a never-seen dual 200MP camera setup. The camera layout is accompanied by a 200MP primary sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens. If this becomes a reality, the phone could really hit higher benchmarks in the camera category.

Reports suggest that the primary 200MP camera will use LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) sensor technology. Last but not least, the company is also making noticeable upgrades in battery and charging technology. Xiaomi is expected to debut a 7K-level battery with 100W wired charging support. Along with that, the phone will have wireless charging support.
