After a month of announcements, Huawei Pura X View is finally here with one of the widest displays on board in the world. With a pill-shaped camera island at the back, the phone has a 16.9:5 aspect ratio, and more to cover in the story below.
Huawei launches the widest non-foldable smartphone
Well, Huawei’s Pura X View brings one of the widest displays for a non-foldable phone. Dimensionally, the phone has a thickness of 6.68mm, weighs 201g, and has bezels at a measly 1.05mm in thickness and is symmetrical across all four sides.
Clad in Zero White, Phantom Black, Linen Gray, or Shadow Red colorways, the phone sports a 6.39” OLED 2,160Hz PWM and up to 6,500 nits of brightness.
Under the hood, the phone packs a Kirin 9030S SoC, paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The chipset is said to be 28% better than previous iterations. It brings 29% faster load speed, 41% better home screen smoothness, and 15% enhanced task switching speeds. HarmonyOS 7 handles the software part (of course, without Android).
Apart from that, the phone sports a 7,000mAh battery paired with 50W wireless and 66W wired charging capabilities. There’s an IP68 and IP69 rating for water and dust on board. There’s a full-area VC cooling system on-board plus a ring-type gain antenna to control the heat.
The star of the show, after the size, is the 200MP primary RYYB cam with a 1/1.28″ sensor, the same as the one used on the Pura 90s Pro Max. There’s a 50MP periscope telephoto and a tertiary 112-degree ultra-wide snapper on board. Finally, we meet a 50MP selfie cam with an f/2.6 aperture.
Huawei Pura X View pricing and availability
Well, the Huawei Pura X will be up for pre-orders starting September 9th (Wednesday) in China, starting at 5,999 yuan ($893) for the base 12GB+256GB model. You can take the middle 12GB+512GB variant at 6,999 yuan ($1,042), and finally, we have the top-most variant at 8,499 yuan (~$1,266).
There’s a special early bird offer consisting of five items plus student discounts of up to 944 yuan for eligible buyers. Unfortunately, we don’t know whether the phone will make its global launch, and if it does, we are hoping for a slightly pricier tag on it. Note that the aforementioned USD pricing is simply converted from yuan, as it is only available in China for now.
