Honor Play is out, Honor P Series of smartphones is incoming and now, here’s a new Honor Magic 2, successor to Honor Magic that was released in December 2016. The new smartphone dubbed as Honor Magic 2 is a brilliant smartphone with some new features that Honor lovers would cherish.

Well, Huawei Honor didn’t arrange a dedicated launch event for Honor Magic 2 but thanks to the courtesy of George Zhao, president at Honor, here are few key features that were revealed during the event.

Honor Magic 2 completely ditched the infamous notch and the incoming waterdrop-shaped notch with its FullView display that covers almost every nook and corner of the front display while eliminating the notch and the bezels and the chin for sure. The upcoming smartphone features a slide-out camera unit similar to how Oppo Find X was launched a few weeks ago sporting an elevated module hosting the front camera and speaker assembly with rear cameras.

As of now, we aren’t sure that the back cameras are situated on the elevating module or as a conventional setting on the back panel but since the module is big enough, we can safely assume that both the rear cameras will be mounted on the machine that can be expanded and retracted when required. But here’s the catch. When George showed the smartphone, he used his fingers to pull out the elevating mechanism that raises certain questions such as is it an engineering sample or if Honor has something different to offer.

What’s more? The Honor Magic 2 sports an upgraded variant of Magic Charge of up to 40W charging speed which is phenomenally fast. It will be accompanied by a 15-layer safety protection system along with auto-identification of 3 critical parts for safer fast charging options.

George further stated that Honor Magic 2 will offer a Kirin 980 AI-based processor that Huawei recently unveiled. The latest processor comes with upgraded performance along with machine learning AI capability.

Speaking about Honor Magic, it was released back in December 2016 sporting Kirin 950 octa-core processor with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU coupled with 4GB RAM and a 64GB internal storage. It hosts a 5.09-inch AMOLED display with 1440×2560 pixel resolution along with 16:9 ratio. It is safe to assume that Honor Magic 2 too will be launched in December this year although the price remains under wrap.
