The camera race is on. After quadruple rear camera appeared on the web, Nokia is here to beat ‘em all with its Penta-camera system that will star with the upcoming Nokia 9 expected to launch early next year although there are no concrete details on its release and neither on its key specifications. Talking about Nokia 9, leakster @OnLeaks from Twitter and 91Mobiles have released a 360-degree render of the upcoming phone along with 5K photographic renders and trust me, it is slaying.
Starting from the basics, the phone will have a 5.9-inch QHD screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a reduced bezel around its sides with no notch, finally! The dimensions are expected to be around 155x75x7.9mm which is still 0.3mm thinner than OnePlus 6T even after the in-display fingerprint scanner that Nokia will roll out with Nokia 9 so bid goodbye to the standard fingerprint scanner as well.
The render shows that Nokia 9 will have a glass sandwich design with a metal frame that could spark speculations if it supports wireless charging which has almost become a norm with flagship smartphones featuring a glass back, take Google Pixel 3 for example. But Nokia will surely ditch the headphone jack with Nokia 9 similar to Nokia 8 Sirroco and now, the USB Type-C will support all the functions for charging and listening music although Nokia might offer a USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone jack connector but the details are hazy.
The integral USP of Nokia 9 is its Penta-camera system backed by Carl Zeiss lens which is embossed within the lenses arranged in a hexagon although PureView’s branding remains unavailable in the renders. But since HMD Global bought PureView a few months ago, we can expect Nokia to adopt PureView’s awesome camera features in the upcoming Nokia 9 as well. Per the speculations, Nokia could opt for a combination of telephone lens, wide-angle lens, and a depth sensor but since Nokia hasn’t officially commented on the same, we can only speculate until it is confirmed. When you check out the back panel, there are 7 holes on the panel with five lenses and a dual-tone LED flash and the seventh hole is equipped with dual-sensor for proximity detection. On the contrary, the front has a single camera setup which is not on a notch so chill.
Another thing about Nokia 9 is that it might have Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC since it has already been in development for almost a year and it seems like Nokia won’t get Snapdragon 8150 for it. Anyhow, as a flagship smartphone norm, it might have up to 8GB RAM with 64GB and 128GB built-in storage although Nokia could offer a range of different configurations. It will be backed with humongous 4,150mAh battery and will get a bump over Nokia 8 Sirocco’s IP67 rating which means, it will have water-resistance and it will be dust-proof as per IP68 rating. Anyhow, the smartphone might launch early next year so let’s keep fingers crossed that it gets PureView branding as well for an epic photography experience which is equivalent to any professional DSLR cameras.
