We have seen how OnePlus has been going on about its upcoming product line which is the OnePlus Nord series. The first smartphone from OnePlus in this new and affordable lineup is just around the corner. We already know the smartphone will have Snapdragon 765G processor along with 5G capabilities that should come under $500 price tag.
There were reports about the OnePlus Buds also launching alongside the OnePlus Nord series and now we have an official confirmation of the same. This is because TechRadar has run an exclusive story a.k.a an interview with OnePlus Buds’ product manager Jay Liu.
We all knew that OnePlus earbuds, now confirmed to be called the OnePlus Buds, were coming down the line to compete with likes of Apple AirPods series as well as Samsung Galaxy Buds and others. Now that we know they are coming, the report mentions that it will have fast charging technology too.
Thanks to OnePlus’ Warp Charge, we will be able to charge OnePlus Buds in just 10 minutes to get 10 hours of playback. As for Apple AirPods, the company claims its earbuds will give you 5 hours of playback in 15 minutes of charge. To compare, Apple claims to give half the playback time with 5 minutes of extra charge time.
The most interesting part is that Buds’ product manager Jay Liu has said the buds will not require any special cable and any charger above 10W would be enough. However, the not-so-great part is that OnePlus Buds won’t have wireless charging meaning you need a cable to charge your earbuds as well as its case. The case of OnePlus Buds will have a 430mA Lithium-Ion battery offering 20 extra hours of battery life along with 7 hours of battery life for the earbuds itself.
OnePlus’ reasoning for not including wireless charging on OnePlus Buds is because “That would add to the cost of the earbuds,”. Now, as long as the OnePlus Buds are affordable compared to the competition then it would be fine but if they are close to the price of its competitors then we would have to start raising questions.
Having said that, OnePlus Buds are expected to be launched at $99 mark which has been a sweet spot for OnePlus Bullets series of wireless earphones over the years. For the official information on price and looks, we will have to wait till July 21 which is when OnePlus Buds will get announced along with the OnePlus Nord.
