Samsung is adding another jewel in its crown with the latest Galaxy Quantum2. Successor to Galaxy A Quantum released last year, this is a Korea-exclusive smartphone with a QRNG security chipset on-board.
The Samsung Galaxy Quantum2 will be released across the globe as Galaxy A82 without a QRNG chip. The device as a bare sports a 6.7-inch 1440p Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a punch-hole on the center housing a 10MP. The rear has a triple camera setup with a 64MP primary sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide sensor, and a 5MP depth sensor arranged in a Galaxy S21-styled vertically-stacked rectangular camera bump.
It uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset along with 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM, and it has a beefy 4,500 mAh battery under the hood.
Talking about the Korea-exclusive Quantum2, it uses a Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) chipset standing as the world’s smallest at 2.5mm squared, it is a chipset that generates random codes using the noise captured from the CMOS sensor and an LED.
It is perhaps used for banking apps and services and offers fortifying capabilities. The South Korean giant partnered with T World, the Standard Chartered Bank Korea, and Shinhan Bank to support the QRNG chip. According to the excerpts, the chip uses quantum encryption technology for banking purposes.
Other features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, Dual-SIM, 5G connectivity, a USB Type-C port, and more given the fact that we are talking about a premium mid-range cadre smartphone. No doubt it runs on the latest Android 11-powered OneUI 3.x update and the Galaxy A82 which will be the moniker for the global variant will carry the same software under the hood.
Anyways, talking about the price tag, the Galaxy Quantum2 released in Korea carries a price tag of KRW 699,600 (approximately INR 46,945/-) and will be up for pre-orders starting April 13 to April 19 and it will be up for shipping starting April 23.
