If you happened to have watched the Apple Far Out launch event that aired in India at 10.30 pm on September 7, you would know that level of adrenaline rush is unmatched. Apple not only gave us the new iPhone 14 series but three models of Apple Watch Series 8 and the new AirPods Pro 2.
The second-generation AirPods Pro has arrived with features worth waiting for including 2x spatial audio, adaptive transparency, and better battery life while keeping the design from cue tip to the stem the same as the original AirPods Pro. Let’s check out some amazing features the $249 AirPods Pro 2 brings to the table.
Apple AirPods Pro 2 Pricing and Availability
Talking about the pricing, the AirPods Pro 2 arrives at a price tag of $249 and INR 26,900/- in India and internationally. Pre-orders for the same begin on September 9th followed by availability from September 23rd onwards. There has been a dip in the pricing for previous buds including AirPods (3rd gen) with MagSafe charging case available at INR 20,900/- while the one with Lightning charging case is available at INR 19,900/-.
Apple AirPods Pro 2 Specifications and Features
To get the obvious out of the way, Apple hasn’t updated the design on AirPods Pro 2 even when the original AirPods Pro arrived in 2019.
The new AirPods Pro 2 gets H2 System-on-chip which is better than the previous SoC for sure. There’s spatial audio and a low distortion driver where all these features work towards upgrading the immersive listening experience when you are hooked onto your AirPods Pro.
The Personalized Spatial Audio feature works by creating a personalized sound profile based on the shape of your ear using your iPhone’s TrueDepth cam. Apple has promised a 2x better noise cancellation tech onboard thanks to the inclusion of advanced computation audio along with optimized microphone placement which works better than the previous gen AirPods Pro.
AirPods Pro 2 brings onboard Adaptive Transparency which is a new mode under its noise cancellation arsenal. What it does is, it cancels out high decibel sounds such as when you are at a traffic junction with horns honking around or when near a construction site. The tech works automatically suppressing the outside noises at a higher degree while reducing its effectiveness when you are farther from high decibel locations.
There’s no lanyard loop, new XS silicon tips, touch controls, and other features onboard too. The battery onboard is rated with 6 hours of listening time and 30 hours on the charging case which isn’t any less time to suck to your AirPods Pro 2 for sure. You can charge the case wired using the Lightning Port or you can use wireless options – Apple Watch Charger, Qi Wireless Charge, or MagSafe charger up its belly. Additionally, Apple has outfitter the charging case with UWB that making it compatible with Apple Find My services. There’s a speaker built-in that buzzes a high-pitched sound when you need to find those easy-to-lose charging cases.
