Instagram users may soon gain access to a ‘Mute’ option along with a slew of other features. A Twitter user that goes by the name of @wongmjane went on to post a couple of images that appear to showcase various tests that officials at Instagram are conducting. For the uninitiated, Jane Wong is a computer science student who was looking through the photo-editing app’s code when he came across the speculated additions.

According to a report by The Verge, Instagram did not have anything to share on the upcoming features at the moment. Even though they haven’t confirmed the apparent tests, it’s still exciting to think about how Instagram is working towards improving the user experience. Following given are some of the features that might be added in the near future.

REACTION TO ‘STORIES’

Earlier last year, Facebook-owned Instagram blatantly ripped-off Snapchat’s primary ‘Stories’ feature and immersed it on the photo-editing platform. Since then, developers are working towards improving the experience by adding newer features such as Filters, GIFs, GEO-Filter ability to name a few. It looks like users will now be able to react in real time. It will work in a similar way that it does on Apple’s iMessage, wherein users can use emojis in response to other’s ‘Stories.’

Gone are the days when camera settings like ‘Slow Motion Recording’ would only be the kind of tool that professionals use. Apps like Instagram are planning on bringing the slow-motion setting to their platforms. While users may already have access to the feature as most smartphones have it built-in. However, those who have older phones without the slow-motion can take Instagram’s assistance.

MUTE PROFILES

This feature will work the same way as Twitter’s mute button option. Through the ‘Mute’ setting, individuals will be able to silence others from viewing your feed. In other words, you won’t be required to unfollow them to hide them from your profiles. Avoid the awkward face-on encounters with those who stick excessively to you.
