Instagram lets you browse the feed, explore new posts, follow people and message them and so on both its mobile and desktop client. The only feature that’s not available on the desktop/web client is the ability to post a photo or a video. Turns out, Instagram is testing out a feature that would let you post images and videos on Instagram via the desktop/web client. It was tipped by a leakster Alessandro Paluzzi on Twitter where he mentioned that the feature is under testing phase and it is still a lot of time to get it on a mass scale.

Posting images and videos using the web client makes up for good prospects since you don’t have to have a phone to get it done. The screenshots show how the process works which is similar to the one you follow on your phone. Upload an image or video, add the caption, alt text, and other details. You can select the aspect ratio since images on Twitter are square although it allows other aspects too. You can even add some filters, change the output a bit, and post.

As said, the UI is almost the same as you would do on your iOS or Android smartphone. This is undoubtedly one of the most awaited functionality. Being able to do everything but not post images or videos was burdensome for those who prefer using Instagram on their desktop rather than their smartphones.

Note that the feature is currently in an internal testing phase. What this means is that the feature will have to undergo strenuous testing for some time before Instagram could roll it out for all. And still, there are things that could change including the UI, the process, the time of release or Instagram might simply squash the functionality altogether. Stay tuned on TrueTech to get more information about it.
