Motorola unleashed its first-ever foldable smartphone aka Razr that tapped into the nostalgia people had with the original Razr flip phones. Released with mid-range chipset and other specs, it disappointed many people since it was compared head-on with another foldable device Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Anyways, it’s second-generation Motorola Razr is expected to arrive in September. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Based on the specs sheet as mentioned by the folks at XDA Developers just like it did with Motorola Razr that was pretty accurate. Turns out the revamped Motorola Razr 2 will get a powerful Snapdragon 765 chipset with Snapdragon X52 modem for 5G support so that’s a major upgrade over the previous generation of vertically foldable clamshell designed Razr. Note that Razr 2 will although support sub-6GHz 5G networks, might not include any mmWave antennas to tap into the mmWave 5G networks but take it with a pinch of salt at this moment.

Apart from that, Motorola Razr 2 will sport a 256GB of storage along with 8GB of RAM and will run on Android 10 out-of-the-box. Motorola Razr 2 might not have any changes to both Quick View and FlexView display although several improvements are expected to arrive over the last-gen device. The report also hints at a possibility that Motorola could introduce a layer of Ultra-Thin Glass on the FlexView display so let’s see what happens.

Finally, the device is expected to arrive with an upgraded 20MP selfie shooter along with an enhanced 48MP ISOCELL Bright GM sensor from Samsung that will dominate its rear camera setup. The device appears to be made available in North America and China only so we aren’t sure if and when it will arrive in other markets like Latin America, India, or Europe among others.

Motorola Razr 2 is expected to arrive in September this year based on the timeline followed last year. However, it was only in February this year when Razr was made available for sales in the United States. We might expect something the same this year. The phone is codenamed as “smith” bearing model number “XT2071-4” so watch out for it. We will update you once we get more information about it.
