Google has been making hardware from the last few years under its new Pixel brand. We know that there have been four Pixel-branded smartphone series until now. However, it is also worth noting that the Google Pixel brand is not just limited to smartphones. Ever since Apple removed the headphone jack, a new product category called the totally wireless earbuds has been created.

After that, Apple also took advantage of it by launching the first generation of AirPods which did exceptionally well in the market. Following Apple’s lead, Google also released the Pixel Buds by removing the headphone jack from its Pixel devices.

Fast forward to 2020 and we are likely to see Apple release the AirPods 3 as well as the AirPods Pro 2020 later this year. Also, Google announced last year at the Pixel 4 series launch that the Pixel Buds 3 are coming next year.

Now, we are in 2020 and Google is likely to release the Pixel Buds 2 sooner rather than later. It is possible that the next generation of Google Pixel Buds will launch alongside the Pixel 4a which is Google’s affordable phone to compete with the Apple iPhone SE 2020.

A new report regarding the Google Pixel Buds has just surfaced online which is regarding a patent filed by Google. This report clearly shows us a design of the TWS earbuds which might be our first look at the Google Pixel Buds 3. So it is likely that we will see two new versions of the Google Pixel Buds this year as the Pixel Buds 2 are likely to release very soon while the Pixel Buds 3 might come later this year at the Pixel 5 launch event.

Google Pixel Buds 2, that are yet to be released, have a much bigger size compared to the AirPods Pro and its competitors. However, the Pixel Buds 3 patent images show that they are likely to be smaller than its predecessor. It is also likely that active noise cancellation will be present on the Pixel Buds 3 but we will have to wait and see for the official announcement from Google on that. As for the price, Google’s Pixel Buds 2 have been announced at $179 so the Pixel Buds 3 are likely to come at the same price or slightly more than that.
