Google held an online event titled “Launch Night In” today, launching quite a number of new products. As expected, the company launched the Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G smartphones, along with Nest Audio speaker, and a new Chromecast with Google TV. Here are the details of every product launched by Google today:
Google Pixel 5
After so many leaks and rumors, the smartphone has finally been launched. The Google Pixel 5 gets a 6-inch FHD+ OLED Smooth Display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The bezels on all 4 sides at the front look quite uniform. The smartphone is housed in a body made up of 100% recycled aluminum. It packs a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 12.2MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, and a 16MP wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and 107-degree FOV. The rear cameras can record 4k videos both at 30 and 60 FPS.
The Pixel 5 is powered by the Snapdragon 765G mobile platform and comes with Google’s custom-built Titan™ M Security chip. It will be available in a single variant with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB internal storage. There’s a 4,000 mAh battery inside, which supports 18W fast charging with a USB-PD 2.0 adapter.
The phone will run on Android 11 OS, with guaranteed OS and security updates for 3 years. It will be available in two colors, Just Black and Sorta Sage. The Pixel 5 is priced at $699 in the US and comes with free 3-month subscriptions to Stadia, YouTube Premium, Google One, and Google Play Pass.
Google Pixel 4a 5G
The Pixel 4a 5G gets a bigger 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display with a lower 60Hz refresh rate. The bottom bezel of the phone is a bit bigger when compared to the Pixel 5. It is powered by the same Snapdragon 765G mobile platform, and comes with 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB internal storage. Besides, even the camera setup on both Pixel 5 and 4a 5G is exactly the same. A 3,800 mAh battery juices up the phone with support of 18W fast charging. The Pixel 4a 5G will be available in two colors, Just Black and Clearly White. It will be priced at $499 in the US, making it one of the cheapest 5G smartphones there.
Google announced the Nest branding for its speakers last year. Today, the company has released a new speaker under this brand, the Nest Audio. It has a 75mm woofer and a 19mm tweeter for loud and exceptional sound quality. Google claims it to be 75% louder than the original Google Home while having 50% more powerful bass. You can also pair two of these speakers together, to get a proper stereo sound. The Nest Audio is priced at $99, and will be available in 5 color options: Chalk, Charcoal, Sage, Sand, and Sky.
Google Chromecast with Google TV
The new Google Chromecast with Google TV looks similar to the previous Chromecast, but functions differently. It now comes with a remote controller with dedicated buttons for Google Assistant, YouTube, and Netflix. Google has added its own UI layer named Google TV on top of Android TV OS. It displays content from many popular streaming services at a single place, categorized according to different genres. It will be up for sale next year at a price of $50.
