Google brings about changes to its search engine algorithms almost every day. These could be negligible changes that wouldn’t typically bring any change on-screen but it is thus, an incremental update that improves the overall system on Google. The search engine giant has released yet another core search algorithm update called “May 2020 Core Update”. The company announced it on its Twitter handle.

With the new core search algorithm update in place, the goal is to improve the quality of the search results for the end-users. Although the end-user would get pretty improved results, the content creators and websites might see a fluctuate on their site’s performance. They could either see gain in the website traffic or they could see a drop in the traffic. Since Google doesn’t state how the core update would bring the changes, manipulating the search engine to gain an upper-hand is almost impossible.

‘Core updates’ are one of the many updates that Google brings to its search engine algorithms several times a year. The last core update was in January and the goal is to provide end-users with the most relevant and authoritative content when they search for any queries online. It is common for sites to see a drop or gain which doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s something wrong with a website. There are many instances where sites don’t even have any issues and yet they see a drop in traffic after an update.

Google makes sure to advise webmasters about the changes in the algorithms. The search engine giant alerted websites about an upcoming ‘Speed Update’ months before it was rolled out. Similarly, this May 2020 core update would take a week or so to roll out across the globe.
