Honor has entered the foldable smartphone market with Honor Magic V, the first-ever foldable smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 under the hood. The device shares designs with the Galaxy Z Flip3and offers much more on the table. Released earlier on Monday, here’s everything you need to know about the Honor Magic V.
Honor Magic V Colors, Pricing, and Availability
The Honor Magic V is available in Burnt Orange, Black, and Titanium Silver colorways. The model commences at CNY 9,999 (or $1,570) while the higher variant with 512GB storage goes up for sale at CNY 10,999 (or $1,725).
According to the official timeline, the Magic V goes on its first sale on January 18, however, there’s no update on its global release at the time of writing this.
Honor Magic V: The Fold Display & Mechanism
The foldable primary display is the center of attraction that closes inwards with seemingly no gap between the two halves. It measures 14.3mm when folded and 6.7mm when unfolded. Its dimensions make the device a bit wider and thinner than the popular rival Z Fold. According to Honor, the device has a waterdrop hinge technology under the hood for the folding mechanism.
For the uninitiated, it is the first foldable smartphone from Honor and the first one to get Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on-board. We haven’t seen many smartphones with Gen 1 chipsets let alone foldable ones.
