However, with the growing market share of iOS devices, Google Android’s market share is facing unprecedented pressure. According to research by StockApps, the current Android OS dominance on a global scale is at 69.74%. For context, it will be 77.32% back in July 2018 which shows a majestic depletion in market share.

iOS is scaling up in terms of global OS market share

According to StockApps, iOS’ current global OS market share is pegged at 25.49%. This means out of every ten smartphones, three are likely to be iOS devices (although one of them is likely another OS in the mix). There’s a mere 1.58% that other OS developers got their hands on after Google’s share depleted.

Price, geography, and other reasons are involved

When it comes to iOS devices, they are basically expensive handsets available in the market pegged at a price tag not lower than $400 if you are buying a new model. However, Android has been around for years and it is available in any and every price segment you can think of from $100 to $1000 or more or less. This has acted in a positive way for Android devices since people can easily afford it.

On the other hand, Apple has been releasing four iPhones in the last couple of years and has revamped its tablet series as well as the super affordable iPhone SE family. It is likely that the availability of options in the Apple ecosystem has prompted users to opt for an iPhone instead of its Android counterpart.

There are a few things here and there that influence the market as well. Oceania and North America’s market share inclined more towards iOS devices (at 54%) while Android has a 45% share followed by 1% for other OSes. On the other hand, Asian and South American countries are taking the Android market share to 81% to 90% respectively while the iOS share in these countries is around 18% and 10% respectively.
