- Apple is all set to launch the iPhone 18 Pro series and the next-gen iPhone Ultra (Fold) later this year.
- However, reports read Apple could delay the launch of iPhone Fold although no concrete dates are available just yet.
- Turns out these reports are false and that the iPhone Fold is coming with iPhone 18 Pro series afterall.
Earlier today, we heard about the Apple iPhone Ultra launch being postponed to early 2027 from a major component supplier; however, a reputed tipster has refuted such claims, marking them as ‘false.’ Here’s the latest story that could bring some solace for tech enthusiasts.
News around delayed iPhone Ultra launch were ‘false’
Lin En-ping, Chairman of Large Precision, a major component supplier, said that a few customers are launching their products in the third quarter as expected, while some have pushed their launches to early next year. Although Lin never mentioned Apple in this context, soon it went viral that the Apple iPhone Ultra launch could’ve been postponed to early 2027.
However, Fixed Focus Digital, a well-renowned tipster, said these claims are far-fetched and false. There have been countless reports of Apple splitting its iPhone 18 series into Pro and non-Pro variants. This is where the Apple iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are scheduled for launch in autumn this year alongside the iPhone Ultra. The next launches will happen in early 2027, when Apple will roll out the iPhone 18, 18e, and Air 2.
Apple never publicly announces upcoming launches until very near, and thus, we are not sure which phones will exactly make the cut this year. There’s a possibility that Apple could tease iPhone Ultra this year, while the shipping would begin a few months later. The iPhone X witnessed a similar situation when it was officially launched in 2017 alongside the iPhone 9 duo, while the shipping began a month later.
The iPhone Ultra has suffered a few breakouts over the months. In May, we heard about durability-related issues plaguing its hinge mechanism. There are also issues around creases, where Apple claims it will minimize them drastically.
A previous report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg mentioned how the Cupertino-based giant could launch the iPhone Ultra alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series; however, the actual shipping would not begin until December, and thus, the ability is around Dec 2026 or Jan 2027.
