LG finally launched the world’s first swiveling screen smartphone in India. Although the global launch already happened a few weeks ago, LG named it LG Wing and it is priced at 69,990 INR. The smartphone is being launched under its Explorer Project, where it aims at discovering new ways to interact with mobile devicesThe device is launched alongside the new LG Velvet, which supports dual screens.

The main USP of this device is that it’s the World’s First Swivel smartphone. What does that mean? Well basically, there are two displays, so you’ll rotate the first display 90-degrees & this reveals the secondary display underneath it, so you’ll then use these two displays to try to do various things like having Maps on one display & attending a turn the opposite. Or watching a movie on the large primary display rotated horizontally & using the secondary screen to talk with friends.

There is a “NAVER Whale browser” in LG Wing that you simply can use to observe YouTube videos during a way that the video plays within the large display & you’ll read the comments on the secondary display. you’ll even create shortcuts of the 2 Apps they most often use together so you’ll launch the 2 instantly on the 2 displays.

Speaking of the specs, the primary display is a 6.8-inch P-OLED with a facet ratio of 20.5:9 & a resolution of 1080p. The secondary display may be a 3.9-inch G-OLED panel with a 1080p resolution. it’s not a flagship smartphone since there’s the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SOC, but this chipset also means there’s 5G support. there’s 8GB RAM & 128/256GB internal storage alongside support for a microSD card of up to 2TB.

In the camera department, LG has done some interesting works. There are triple rear cameras that include a primary 64 Megapixel shooter with OIS, a secondary 12 Megapixel UltraWide camera with 1.0-micron pixel size & another 13 Megapixel UltraWide camera with 1.4-micron pixel size. The camera specs won’t be that interesting, but there’s something called the “Gimbal Mode”. So basically, you’ll use the phone in Swivel Mode & then, the massive primary display is that the viewfinder & the secondary display gives you various Gimbal-like controls. So, you’ll use the Joystick-like controls to regulate the point of view, “follow mode” for smoother videos while moving, a lock to scale back blurring & shaking person View Mode, etc.

LG went for a pop-up mechanism for the 32 Megapixel selfie camera. Since there are two displays, there’s the “Dual Recording” feature which will be wont to shoot with rear & front cameras simultaneously. Furthermore, you’ve got the choice to either save the video as one file or two different files. LG Wing comes with what the corporate calls “LG Creator’s Kit” which offers plenty of features like ASMR Recording, Voice Bokeh, Timelapse Control, etc.

LG says that the “Hinge” mechanism of LG Wing is tested to remain reliable for up to 200,000 swivels. Talking about the remaining of the specs, the phone packs a 4,000mAh battery underneath & Android 10 runs out of the box. the load of the device is 260 grams, whereas the thickness is 10.9mm. there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack & the phone comes with Wireless Charging support.
