Some of the devices that support AI features by Google Gemini Nano are Tecno Phantom V2 Fold, Poco X6 Pro 5G, Oppo Reno 12, and iQOO Neo 9 Pro among others. As said, smartphones powered by Dimensity 8300 and 9300 SoC residing in mid-range to premium midrange as well as flagship cadre should get these AI features onboard.
At present, most of the AI features are based on cloud. This makes it easier for OEMs to bring AI features to their phones without needing dedicated hardware on the devices and the ecosystem needed to support these functions. However, it also raises concerns about the security and privacy of the users.

With on-device generative AI capabilities, users and developers can enjoy benefits such as better security, reliability, seamless performance, lower latency, lower operation cost, and the ability to function with little to no connectivity depending upon the use cases.

Google will work alongside MediaTek to release APK to assist developers get their devices up to speed and running on Dimensity 9300 and 8300 in the future. Note that neither of these chipsets is the most famous under MediaTek’s offering but with this announcement, OEMs might be lured onto these chipsets which means you should see more phones powered by these chips soon. It also facilitates Gemini Nano as the adoption rates maximize as more phones launch and more people buy it to taste AI features first-hand and on-device.
