MediaTek is already expected to launch the Helio P40 and Helio P70 chipsets sometime around MWC 2018 next month. The latter just paid a visit to AnTuTu and it scored a staggering 156,906, which is just way above the competition. To give you an idea, the Snapdragon 660 processor scored 105,575 that is exactly 50,000 less than what the Helio P70 scored.

In the test, the processor has been compared to Helio X30, Snapdragon 660, and Exynos 7872, which was recently announced. The overall score of the other three processors is 141,82, 105,575, and, 88,133 respectively. It is worth noting that the Snapdragon 821 and even the Snapdragon 835 on some flagships have scored lower than what the Helio P70 did in this benchmark test.

While the Snapdragon 660 will be coming out in a few smartphones quite soon, and also the Exynos 7872, there is no information about the devices having the Helio P70 SoC. As per the available information, the upper mid-range processor from MediaTek will be made with 12nm process, will have an octa-core CPU, Mali G72 MP4 GPU, and a Category 13 LTE modem. As mentioned above, it should go official in February.

Apart from the overall score of the chipset, the individual scores of the CPU, GPU, etc. were also revealed. Helio P70’s CPU scored 73,969, which is generally overall score of the most mid-range SoCs currently available. Its GPU scored 30,737, UX got 41,089, and the memory got 11,111. With an overall score of around 157,000, the processor can compete with the flagship processors of the past couple of years, at least on paper.

It is a well-known fact that the benchmarks don’t necessarily say the entire story. While the processor may seem an absolute performer right now on the basis of the benchmark, but we must wait to see how it performs in the real world.
