Rumors and leaks are pretty uncommon nowadays. We already know a tonne about the iPhone 15 series releasing this year thanks to these reports. Turns out the upcoming Nothing Phone (2) is reported to arrive with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Unlike rumors, this information comes from a Qualcomm top executive who posted about it on LinkedIn before deleting the post right away.

According to Alex Katouzian, the SVP, and GM of the Mobile, Computer, and XR business unit at Qualcomm, the Nothing Phone (2) will get a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC under the hood. The post went live on Katouzian’s LinkedIn handle, however, it was deleted right after but that was too late.

Alex posted congratulating Nothing about the product collaboration at the MWC 2023 in Barcelona. Excitedly, the post confirmed our initial analysis that Nothing Phone (2) will get a Snapdragon 8 series SoC under the hood.

Nothing sold more than 650K units of the Nothing Phone (1) powered by the Snapdragon 778G+. With the next-gen Phone (2) in the works, Nothing is gearing up to give users a premium experience which includes using a flagship chipset. The upcoming device is likely coming later this year which means Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will be outdated by then and dwarfed by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 releasing around the same time around.

However, since Phone (2) will have to take care of the affordable pricing as well, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 seems like a better choice. It is the flagship and more affordable than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or 8+ Gen 2 anyways.

Talking about Nothing Phone (2) pricing, its predecessor arrives with INR 25,000/- to INR 37,000/- in India. The successor will get slightly updated designs, better software, and a powerful chipset under the hood. It is enough to skyrocket its price a bit. An Android Police report mentions the Nothing Phone (2) could arrive during the same timeline as Phone (1) i.e. mid-July which gives us a few ways to contemplate the specs and more.
