July 2 show a rare and only total solar eclipse that was observed by the masses in China and guess what? One of the scientists named Dr. Deng Licai of the Chinese Academy of Sciences fled all the way to Chile from China with an unannounced Nubia smartphone and posted images captured during the eclipse which are breathtaking.

Dr. Deng Licai got his hands on Nubia Z20 as it is being called, the flagship successor to last year’s Nubia Z18. Dr. Licai took the phone to click photos of the total solar eclipse and posted the image samples on Chinese networking site Weibo and you know what, these photos are impeccable. The photos show total solar eclipse in its glory although it might not be as clear as a professional DSLR would shoot and perhaps these photos are enticing in terms of quality and clarity.

He praised the camera prowess and how it has improved over the predecessor i.e. Nubia Z18 which he took for a swing to shoot a magnificent photo of Milky Way using an only a 30-seconds exposure in its Pro mode. Soon after Licai posted on Weibo, Nubia Co-founder and President Ni Fei reblogged it confirming that the device is called Nubia Z20 and it is a flagship smartphone while a subtle hint that the device is up to release shortly.

We don’t know much about Nubia Z20 which is rather interesting since rumors and leaks are almost imminent when companies are working on a new smartphone. Considering that Nubia Z18 had Snapdragon 845 onboard, the upcoming smartphone will surely have Snapdragon 855 SoC along with an Android Pie 9.0 out-of-the-box as well.

Nubia Z18 sports a 24MP + 8MP rear camera along with 5.99-inch display with 8MP sensor housed in its water-drop shaped notch and 8GB RAM with 128GB storage. The device also sports a 3,500 mAh battery so we could expect slightly higher specifications within Nubia Z20 speculated to launch sometime this year although Ni Fei didn’t comment on its release date as of now.
