It’s been about three months since OnePlus promised Marshmallow for the OnePlus 2. With the Community Build arriving in the last week of May, OP2 users didn’t have a lot to cheer for, until now. Announced on the Community Forums, Marshmallow v6.0.1 has started to roll out. OnePlus has promised that it should reach all devices within 2 days. Apart from an upgrade to OxygenOS version 3.0.2, here are the main features that come with the update:

  • Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow upgrade
  • Enhanced Doze mode for better battery life
  • System wide performance improvements
  • Improved fingerprint sensor performance and recognition
  • New OnePlus Camera UI and AF optimization
  • MaxxAudio and Tuner have been removed. We have integrated with Dirac HD Sound technology for the speaker so you get a great experience without the knobs and dials
  • Shelf UX has been improved. You can now long press to edit a board
  • You can now lock apps in recents so they won’t be cleared away. We’ve also added clear process in addition to clear-all for those of you who want a better control of background processes
  • Network operator selection will now stick to your choice so you don’t accidentally roam onto unintended networks
  • SwiftKey update to 6.3.3

For a weird reason, this update deletes all stored fingerprints, so make sure you add them again after updating.

We still haven’t received an ETA for Marshmallow on the OnePlus X with some users debating that OnePlus don’t seem to care anymore for the device. Being late on software updates isn’t something new with OnePlus having taken 3 months just to provide Android M to it’s “flagship killer”.

As for the update, we would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
