OnePlus last month took the mid-range market in South Asian countries like India with its new OnePlus Nord. But surprisingly OnePlus didn’t launch the device in the North American market. With the recent hearings, we are sure that OnePlus is baking another device for the North American market. Well, as per a report by Android Central, OnePlus is soon launching an entry-level device with the codename “Clover”.

While there are rumors that OnePlus is working on another affordable phone that might be cheaper than the recently launched Nord, the handset maker’s first entry-level phone for its loyalists within the US would be the OnePlus Clover that might launch with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 chipset, the media has reported.

The OnePlus Clover will continue sale within the US with a tag of around $200 (roughly Rs. 14,700), reports Android Central, citing an individual conversant in the event. The smartphone will reportedly debut shortly and can reach global markets alongside the US.

OnePlus was restrained when it involves diluting its portfolio, limiting itself to the mid-tier and high-end segments so it’s interesting to ascertain the Chinese manufacturer target the entry-level category with its upcoming phone. OnePlus built up tons of cachet as a premium manufacturer in markets like India, therefore the shift to the entry-level segment doesn’t fit with the company’s overall strategy.

Speaking of specifications, Clover will have a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage (expandable via MicroSD), a Snapdragon 460 SoC, a rear fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm headphone jack, and three camera array on the rear. Notably, the Snapdragon 460 SoC is different to the Snapdragon 660 that appeared in GeekBench scores attributed to Clover.

The display on the front may be a 6.52-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution (Yes, 720p!) & underneath, the OnePlus Clover features a massive 6,000mAh battery. there’s 18W Fast Charging too. The triple camera setup on the rear includes a primary 13 Megapixel camera paired with two 2MP sensors. Finally, OxygenOS 10 supported Android 10 runs out of the box & the phone features a rear-facing fingerprint scanner.

Although the official details aren’t available at this moment, the reported specifications suggest that the new OnePlus phone may have many similarities with the Realme C15. It’s natural as OnePlus and Realme both share an equivalent parent, BBK Electronics. Nonetheless, the presence of the Snapdragon 460 would make the new offering a definite model because the Realme model comes with a MediaTek Helio G35 SoC.
