After being launched in India in January this year, the Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro has now got a significant price cut of Rs. 5,000. With the price cut applied, the phone will now retail for Rs. 31,900 against its original price of Rs. 36,900.

The premium mid-range segment is getting hot with the devices like Moto Z2 Play and the OnePlus 5, which is expected to be in the similar price range as the Galaxy C9 Pro. Maybe Samsung is getting ready to face the fierce competition that the OnePlus 5 will bring along.

Samsung didn’t officially announce the price cut, but the phone was listed sporting the new price tag on amazon.in. The retailer doesn’t mention any discount on the original price, it is just the new price that is mentioned, indicating towards a permanent price cut instead of a temporary one.

Considering the pricing strategy that Samsung follows, the Galaxy C9 Pro is a premium device, but when it comes to specifications, it stands nowhere even before the last year’s OnePlus 3. Samsung included everything on the phone that people can flaunt including its metal build, 6GB of RAM, and a 16MP camera on the front.

But it’s the internals that don’t go with the price tag of the phone. The phone comes powered by a Snapdragon 653 processor that has Adreno 510 for handling graphics. Its internal storage is 64GB which is expandable up to 256GB. Moreover, the phone has a massive 6-inch display that sports a meagre resolution of 1920×1080. A 4000 mAh battery was included to provide the phone with power that the display will draw.

For the price of Rs. 36,900, the Galaxy C9 Pro wasn’t a great deal, nor it is now with a slashed price of Rs. 31,990. But the price cut should give Samsung a spike in its sales charts, even though it is a small one. And it is also good to see competition to retaliate before a major product is about to launch.
