  • The display tech is made to withstand constant wear and tear, hundreds of times each day, and here's the tee!

Samsung is just a week away from launching its next-generation foldable devices at the Galaxy Unpacked, and things have gone wilder as the company today announced a new foldable display technology dubbed Flex Titanium. This comes after seven generations of foldable display innovations, including last year’s 3rd-gen Armor FlexHinge that was 43% lighter than the one we saw with the Galaxy Z Fold6.

Samsung’s latest Flex Titanium ensures durability, slimness, and crisp viewing experience

Samsung introduced the Flex Titanium, its next-gen foldable display tech that brings durability and slimness at its core. Set to arrive across the foldable devices coming next Wednesday, the technology is built to refine the viewing experience and manage and resist external shocks and wear and tear due to repeated folding movements, to name a few.

The South Korean giant achieved the same using titanium as the base material due to its high-octane strength and resilience. Using a newly developed titanium alloy film and flexible titanium plate, the tech giant was able to bring the display thickness down to one-third of the thickness of a human hair, plus 20x stiffer than the polymer film used on AMOLED foldable panels possessed by older models.

The titanium plate on board the latest OLED panel supports the whole display, forming a more uniform surface, while the titanium alloy film tends to make the display stiffer, as aforementioned. The film sits on top of the plate in order to ensure no air gaps are in between, using advanced hole-processing technology.

The construction of the panel also ensures lower power consumption while delivering ultra-vivid display resolution thanks to the next-gen organic materials in use. The aim was to reduce visibility of the creases and ensure the display is as slim as it can get while balancing structural stability, flexibility, and strength, setting a new bar for foldable displays moving ahead.

The latest Flex Titanium will make its debut with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip7 series arriving next week at the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event.
