Samsung has been at the forefront of foldable smartphone tech with the earliest Samsung Galaxy Fold which was released in February 2019. As per a statement from Samsung, it has currently sold 10 million foldable smartphones worldwide. For context, it is a 300%+ increase in the worldwide shipment compared to the stats recorded in 2020.
The information was put forth by the President of Samsung Mobile – TM ROH, according to whom, the South Korean giant has shipped over 10 million units in 2021. It shoots above the reports by IDC which quoted 7.1 million foldable devices as shipment for 2021.
Both Samsung Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Flip series has been delivering exceptional performance over the years. According to the blog post, 70% of the Galaxy foldable users opted for Flip for its bold color options, the flex mode, and other features over the in-house competitor (or say sibling) Galaxy Fold series. Interestingly, Galaxy Z Fold3 become one of the most preferred devices for those in need of a big screen and multitasking experience like never before.
Samsung has confirmed a Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event on August 10 where it will launch two new foldable devices dubbed as Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and Z Fold4.
