Samsung made the Galaxy Note 8 official today at a grand launch event in New York. There have been a lot of speculations and leaks around the device and now here it is, right before us. The Galaxy Note 8 is a crucial device for Samsung as it should resurrect the Note series after the damage caused by the Note 7.

As far as the features and specifications are concerned, they are exactly justifying the leaks. The Note 8 comes with a slightly larger (than the S8 Plus) 6.3-inch Infinity Display with a resolution of 2960 x 1440. It obviously is a Super AMOLED panel. The overall design of the phone is inspired by the Galaxy S8 series, mainly because of the 18.5:9 curved display on the front.

The RAM capacity of the Note 8 is 6GB, up from the norm of 4GB on earlier Samsung flagships. Plus, the standard internal storage is 64GB and the phone also has a microSD card for expanding it further up to 256 GB. It will come powered by Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895, depending on the country you live in. The beefier specifications will help the DeX dock work better.

One of the major features of the phone is it sports a whole new camera setup. The Note 8 takes the feet of becoming the first Samsung smartphone to have a dual-camera system. Both the sensors are of 12MP with one of them being a telephoto monochrome sensor. As a result, the Note 8 can do 2x optical zoom and create a great bokeh effect with the help of its updated camera app. Another first thing for these cameras is the presence of OIS on both the sensors.

S-Pen has also been updated to offer many more smart features than any of the earlier Note phones offered. Besides better note taking, the S-Pen will be able to translate on-screen text and the company has also introduced Live Messages. This feature allows you to send self-created animated messages to your friends on any platform.

Bixby has grown a lot on the Note 8 and Samsung has included many new features. Bixby commands is a thing now, using which you can say a small command to Bixby and it will perform a certain set of actions. For example, if you’ll say “good night” to Bixby before sleeping, it will automatically turn on the do not disturb mode, set a morning alarm for the time you usually do, and turn on the blue light filter. This is one of the examples showcased during the event.

Samsung has announced that the Note 8 will be up for sale starting September 15th and the pre-booking will start from tomorrow. Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Orchid Grey, and Deep Sea Blue are the colors that the phone will be available in. The Note 8 has been priced at $930 on AT&T and $960 on Verizon. Samsung has partnered with Harman to include AKG branded earphones inside the box.
