We are sure that if you are a smartphone buff and have been following the industry from a while, you will be excited about foldable phones. Now, we are in the second year of the foldable smartphone trend and we have already seen foldable devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Motorola Razr. Although Huawei has also released its Mate X 5G, it is limited to China only so that beats the purpose.

Coming back to foldable smartphones, Samsung has just announced its highly-anticipated foldable phone named as the Galaxy Z Flip. Now, the interesting part about the Galaxy Z Flip is that it has a different form-factor if we compare it to the Galaxy Fold.

While the Galaxy Fold was a regular phone which could be expanded into a tablet, the Galaxy Z Flip is a compact device that can be expanded into a regular-sized phone. Now, we have also seen mixed reactions from reviewers and smartphone enthusiasts regarding the Galaxy Z Flip’s form-factor. But we also see the point being made by Samsung where people who want a compact phone that fits in their pockets to buy this device.

Talking about people who would like to buy this device, Samsung has targeted this device towards Women and Generation-Z users. As for the internals, the Galaxy Z Flip is loaded with end-of-2019 specifications such as a Snapdragon 855+, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage and 3300 mAh battery. This also makes us think that the device was already in development by the second half of 2019.

There are two 12MP cameras on the back which can also be used as selfie cameras. However, you will have to use the tiny 1-inch display on the front of the Galaxy Z Flip to preview your selfies from the primary cameras. As for the dedicated camera, there is a 10MP sensor inside the device with a hole-punch cutout. The Galaxy Z Flip also supports wireless charging and it comes with Android 10-based OneUI on top.

Samsung has also reduced the prices of its Galaxy Z Flip as compared to the Galaxy Fold which was expected but a welcome change too. While the Galaxy Fold was sold at $1980 with similar specifications, the Galaxy Z Flip will be available at $1380. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip will be made available in Korea and the US from February 14 in Mirror Purple and Mirror Black colour variants.
