On February 11, Samsung launched two smartphone lineups i.e. Samsung Galaxy S20 series and the next-gen Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. It has been just a week and we have already started receiving updates on rumors for the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2, the successor to the first one.

Yes, this was confirmed by two of the leaksters where the source is reportedly insiders from Samsung Electronics who have confirmed the bit. It is stated that the upcoming foldable phone is codenamed as ‘Champ’ and might arrive sometime in the second half of 2020 with the moniker ‘Samsung Galaxy Fold 2’ which is pretty self-explanatory.

What’s exciting is that Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will arrive with an under-the-display front camera module. Yes, you heard it right, the upcoming foldable device with getting a front UD camera module to allow it go fullscreen. The phone will not have any punch-hole or notch at the front as the display will cover the camera lens displaying content as it should. When the front camera is called or needed, the display above the UD camera will go blank allowing the light to enter into the lens and bingo.

The technology has already been tested as prototypes by several Chinese smartphone manufacturers, however, it hasn’t commercialized yet which means Samsung could swipe the opportunity to roll out this revolutionary technology first just like it did last year releasing a commercially available foldable device.

Apart from that, the price is something that is likely to remain almost identical to its previous iterations. To put things into context, Galaxy Z Flip carries a price tag of $1,390 while Galaxy Fold arrived at $1,980.

The year 2020 is practically a year of foldable smartphones with an estimated 8 million units to be sold this year alone opposed to a million units last year. Samsung is planning to launch Galaxy Fold 2 sometime in the second half of 2020 where the various sources suggest it could arrive in July 2020 itself. Moreover, the phone is likely to be produced in the Gumi Plant in Gyeongbuk and not Vietnam so the availability of ultra-thin glass (UTG) is also faded at this moment.
