The first midrange from Oppo using Oppo’s in-house HyperBoost Technology is here. Oppo A7 has been appearing in rumors for the last month and now that the product is available in China, here’s what it offers.

First of all, it offers 6.2-inch 18:9 FullView 2.5D curved glass with the third generation Corning Gorilla Glass that protects its screen which has a screen-to-body ratio of 88.39%. Although the screen size is analogous to that of OnePlus 6, it has had a considerably larger chin than OnePlus 6 although the waterdrop notch might compensate by enhancing the screen real estate.

Under the hood, Oppo A7 is powered by Snapdragon 450 octa-core SoC probably on a 10nm manufacturing process paired with Adreno 506 GPU. It has Oppo’s Hyperboost technology that delivers higher performance during gaming and intensive processes using the polymorphic network acceleration technology that will combinedly speed up at least 100 games that were earlier enlisted by Oppo and PUBG, Honor of Kings and others are already included in the optimized list for intensive gaming which will offer a 31.91% faster performance. It makes Oppo A7 the second phone from Oppo to receive Hyperboost Technology.

Backed by a 3GB RAM which is ideal for a midrange smartphone, the Oppo A7 offers 32GB of internal storage but there is an option to get 4GB/64GB configuration too although by paying additionally. Anyhow, the storage is flexible and can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card, unlike Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro which has its own type of memory card.

The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with the skin of ColorOS 5.2, however, future upgrades seem unlikely. Finally, the camera department has received a 13+2MP rear camera setup that can shoot HD images and videos without any hassle while the front 16MP shooter is optimized to take brighter, lighter, and enticing selfies at all time. But the biggest USP of Oppo A7 would be it’s humongous 4,230 mAh battery although wireless charging is absent that’s a compromise you’d do to get a midrange smartphone with these mind-blowing specs.

Finally, moving on the last part i.e. the price tag and it’s available at CNY1,599 which is roughly $230 on pre-order in China clad in Power Pink, Glaze Blue, and Glaring Gold as the color options. This might be the price tag for the 4GB/64GB model since the phone will be launched in this configuration in China only while other markets will get the 3GB/32GB variant too.
