It has been quite some time ever since the rumors on a reportedly Pocophone F2 have started to appear on tech websites and forums. The successor to Pocophone F1 is expected this year as it was since confirmed by Xiaomi’s global head Alvin Tse that it would arrive sometime this year.

With that being said, we might be getting a close call towards its launch. This seems imminent because of the trademark application that leakster the_tech_guy found. In fact, the trademark application is for the moniker ‘Poco F2’ in India while it is known as Pocophone outside the country.

The first trademark application for Poco F1 arrived more than two months before its global launch in August 2018. If that’s something is considered here as well, we might be merely two months away from Poco F2 launch sometime next month or in March 2020 but that’s just a rumor at this moment.

Rumors around Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro being the Poco F1 successor were squashed ever since reports about K30 Pro went live and now that the phone is about t launch, we are left with nothing but wait for Poco F2 to arrive.

Note that filing for a trademark application doesn’t necessarily mean that Xiaomi is going to launch a so-called device. The same goes for any technologies or patents which is a common sight among smartphone companies so if Poco F2 doesn’t materialize, it won’t be surprising. But citing Alvin’s comment last year that we will surely hear more about POCO this year and this trademark application, the arrival seems inevitable.

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Pocophone or Poco in India released its first smartphone aka Poco F1 in 2018 with high-end specifications at a price tag comparable to midrange devices. It was also marketed as a rival to OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. Let’s see what unfolds shortly.
